What not to miss this semester!
Theater games and improv escapades help kids find a
more expressive range of voice and body, gain focus and
concentration, release their imaginations, and develop
confidence in their creative choices—all basic tools they
need in 21st century life—whether or not they’re Broadway
or Hollywood-bound! These classes give kids the tools to
harness their creative potential through character work,
improv fun, Broadway music, and more. Great singing
voices not an expectation—we’re exploring musical theater
from an acting point of view. Classes will perform a small
show for family and friends at semester’s end.

DANIELLE SERTZ is a director, choreographer, playwright,
teacher, and performer whose students have ranged from young
children to professionals. Her training includes the National
Theater Institute, Ann Reinking’s Musical Theater Project, a B.A.
in drama from Ithaca College, and an M.F.A. in directing from
UMass Amherst.
GINA FEARN is a director, performer, and educator with a B.F.A.
in theater and music from Otterbein College. As artist-in-residence,
she created a performing arts program at a New Jersey
charter school, and in Vermont has taught and directed theater
for youth in schools and community programs. She is a part of
Words Come Alive!, the Flynn’s signature school program, helping
teachers integrating drama and music into school curriculum.
The FlynnArts theater program creates supportive and fun-filled learning experiences that emphasize individual expression and embrace creative choice. Classes for children build sequentially, while teen and adult classes offer in-depth exploration of specific theater arts. Small classes mean that everyone receives personal attention, and performance opportunities let students try out their skills in front of supportive audiences filled with family and friends. Tours of the historic Flynn Theatre, discounts on world-class MainStage performances, and masterclasses with extraordinary visiting artists complement the strong core program.
