What not to miss this semester!
Blending elements from Horton, Hawkins, Cunningham,
classical, and release techniques, classes include both
gentle and energetic warmups
and lively combinations
that emphasize alignment,
articulation, extension, and release. Dancers experiment
with musicality, momentum, weight shifts, ease of movement,
and spatial awareness. Level III (modern experience
required) strives toward a refinement of artistry, phrasing,
and kinesthetic awareness to meet the on-going challenges
of gravity, and draws on contact improv, pilates, and yoga,
in addition to the modalities mentioned above.
To take
Level III for credit through UVM, do not send a Flynn
registration form and payment. Instead, call Continuing
Education at 802-656-2085, email learn@uvm.edu, or
visit www.learn.uvm.edu.
Especially welcoming to adults new to the art form.

LYNN ELLEN SCHIMOLER is an educator and choreographer
who earned her B.A. in dance from Bennington College. Her
background includes both modern and African forms, and
she also has an interest in improvisational movement studies,
Dunham technique, and collaboration with live musicians.
TIFFANY RHYNARD is a visiting assistant professor at
Middlebury College, teaching modern dance, choreography,
contact improvisation, and video dance. Her choreography
and video works have been presented throughout the
country, including at the American Dance Festival.
The Flynn’s dance program instills a lifelong love of dance, helping veteran dancers and first-timers alike experience the power of their bodies as expressive instruments and discover their unique movement capabilities. Classes cover a breadth of styles, teaching technique while helping students trust their own instincts—instilling confidence and a sense of accomplishment. Classes focus on process rather than product, but a year-end optional performance satisfies dancers’ desire to share their growth and hard work with family and friends. Our program is enhanced by connections to the world-class artists who perform on the Flynn MainStage and share their dance styles and ideas with FlynnArts students in masterclass settings. Drop-in students are permitted in teen/adult classes on a space-available basis for $16 per class. However, most classes fill up quickly with registered students, leaving no room for drop-ins. It is wise to secure a space in class by registering for the full semester.
