Heidi Latsky's Performance Skills Workshop For Actors and Dancers

Led by renowned GIMP choreographer Heidi Latsky, this workshop investigates (experientially) a variety of performance and movement techniques that helps connect you with your body. The workshop also includes an introduction to the unique elements of the Latsky Technique.

HEIDI LATSKY has been a moving force in the dance world for many years, as a choreographer for stage, theater and film. Latsky began her amazing career as the "Disco Queen" of Montreal, forming her first dance revue company, Footlite Dance Theater, in 1982. After moving to New York City in 1983, Latsky initially received recognition as a celebrated principal dancer for Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance (1987-1993). She became a nationally renowned choreographer through her collaboration with Lawrence Goldhuber in the critically acclaimed duo Goldhuber & Latsky (1993-2000). In 2001, Latsky formed the New York-based modern dance company, Heidi Latsky Dance (HLD), to critical acclaim. Her work and company have toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe.
The FlynnArts dance program instills a lifelong love of dance, helping veteran dancers and first-timers alike experience the unique power of their own bodies as expressive instruments. Classes cover a breadth of styles, teaching technique while helping students trust their own instincts—instilling confidence and a sense of accomplishment. Classes focus on process rather than product, but a year-end optional performance satisfies dancers’ desire to share their growth and hard work with family and friends. Our program is enhanced by connections to the world-class artists who perform on the Flynn MainStage and share their dance styles and ideas with FlynnArts students in masterclass settings. Drop-in students are permitted in teen/adult classes on a space-available basis for $12-16 per class (depending on length). However, most classes fill up quickly with registered students, leaving no room for drop-ins. It is wise to secure a space in class by registering for the full semester.
