What's the Show Like?
Bring the whole family to this lighthearted romp, based on cartoonist Charles M. Schulz's legendary Peanuts comic strip! Featuring the universal hopes, dreams, and wild optimism of Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, and the whole lively gang, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown! is bright, fun, and full of laughs - the perfect choice for family summertime fun! This updated version of the show is based on the Tony Award winning 1999 Broadway revival and features brand new songs and more upbeat music that will thrill adults and children alike. You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown follows the lively Peanuts gang through the
trials and tribulations of life in the most widely read comic strip of all time! But the colorful and distinct
characters are not mere cartoons—they reflect deep and universal human struggles with humor and heart.
Who hasn’t grappled with insecurity when trying to work up the courage to approach a crush, like Charlie
Brown with his little redheaded girl? Or found it difficult to give up the comfort of a safety net of one form or
another, like Linus and his beloved security blanket? Even the brash among us wrestle inner demons, like
brassy Lucy when she can’t seem to bulldoze her way into sensitive Schroeder’s heart, no matter how hard
she tries! Our show will draw upon the rich and vibrant pool of Charles M. Schultz’s beloved characters:
Pigpen,Woodstock, Marcy, and more will join the gang—and every actor will have a distinct character to flesh
out, since there’s no generic chorus.
Is this a Camp or a Show?
It’s both! In this intensive three-week learning experience, we’ll work on acting, singing, and dance skills in
workshops and rehearsals, strengthening our performance chops as well as preparing for a fully-produced
five-show run in FlynnSpace! Performers will also have a hand in technical elements of the show (costumes,
sets, and more) and opportunities will be available to participate offstage as stage managers or technical
assistants if being in the limelight is not your thing. So come be a part of this fast paced, lighthearted
musical that’s guaranteed to be a blast for us to create and for audiences to enjoy!
Can I Hear Some Music?
You can buy a CD here, or check out some clips on YouTube. They vary in
quality, and our show will be done differently, but it’ll give you a sense of the music. There are 2 variants of the
show – the Off-Broadway original and the Broadway revival. We are doing the revival.

CHRISTINA WEAKLAND is the director of education at the
Flynn Center, with a background in performance, direction,
and choreography—most recently choreographing Lyric
Theatre’s Beauty & the Beast. Her training includes dance,
drama, and voice at Carnegie Mellon University and a B.A.
in theater from Bryn Mawr College.
Our theater program emphasizes individual expression, creative choice, and FUN! Children’s classes build sequentially on the basics, while teens and adults can explore specific theater arts in greater depth (and shorter periods of time.) We keep class sizes small so everyone gets personal attention, and vary themes so that each semester challenges returning students as well as new ones. Performance opportunities let students try out their skills in front of supportive audiences of family and friends, and tours of the historic Flynn Theatre, discounts on world-class MainStage performances, and masterclasses with extraordinary visiting artists complement the strong core program.
