"A masterpiece." —New York Daily News
Winner of the New York Drama Desk and London Critics Circle awards,
this classic theatrical portrait of family and injustice by internationally acclaimed
playwright Athol Fugard (Boesman and Lena, The Road to Mecca) comes to life
in this Weston Playhouse production. A powerful autobiographical tale revealing
the changing relationship between a young white boy and his surrogate father—a black man—at the height of South African apartheid, the play includes an onstage
rain shower, ballroom dancing, and a surprising, emotional climax.
