"The foremost big-band composer of her generation" (Washington Post ),
multiple Grammy Award-winner Maria Schneider's music has been lauded
as evocative, majestic, heart-stoppingly gorgeous, and beyond category.
She is said to paint breathtakingly beautiful pictures in sound, achieved
with the help of her tight-knit, 19-piece orchestra, brilliant jazz soloists who
take Schneider's ideas and fly with them. This is an orchestra that swings
and an orchestra that fills you with emotion. Schneider plays compositions
from her newest recording, Sky Blue, including Cerulean Skies, which
thrillingly evokes the migration of birds.
