"[Wainwright's] songs tiptoe audaciously along the boundaries between slapstick and tragedy, and prove time and again that nothing is more serious than comedy." —The Guardian
"[Richard Thompson's] guitar prowess isn't simply a matter of speed and dexterity— although if you closed your eyes . . . you'd swear there were three guitar players." —Boston Globe
Listen to Richard Thompson / Loudon Wainwright III
Loudon Wainwright III and Richard Thompson have influenced
over three decades of folk music with their sophisticated, bold,
and poignant songwriting. Now, the longtime friends combine as
a double bill for their first-ever North American tour as Loud & Rich.
Wainwright’s witty and emotionally-diverse songs have been covered by Johnny Cash
and Earl Scruggs, and his varied career has ranged from music to acting in TV and
film. Thompson, called “the greatest guitarist in British folk-rock” by Rolling Stone,
began his career in the 1960s as the leader of folk-rock pioneers Fairpoint Convention.
His solo achievements earned him a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award, and his songs
have been covered by David Byrne, Bonnie Raitt, and R.E.M.
