"Rodrigues belts out a cultural slice of Brazil." —Boston Globe
The luminous Brazilian contralto Virgínia Rodrigues—the diva of
Afro-Bahian song—presents an unforgettable evening as she wraps
her beautiful voice around samba, classical sounds, and the deeply spiritual
music of Bahia’s candomblé sect. Heralded as the “new voice of Brazilian music”
by the New York Times, Rodrigues was discovered by Brazilian music legend
Caetano Veloso and burst upon the international music scene in 1997.
She presents the music of Brazil at its most captivating and
appears to great acclaim at concerts and festivals around the world.
