Pine Street Jazz has treated audiences to the best in instrumental jazz for nearly a decade. The group’s six musicians hail from diverse backgrounds but perform jazz in the modern mainstream, including a repertoire of standards and lesser-known selections, as well as originals composed by members of the band. In 2004, the group introduced the Singers’ Circle, a series featuring vocalists from a Who’s Who of the area’s top jazz singers, thus establishing Pine Street Jazz as “the band that swings the singers.” This special performance will feature seven singers in an evening of swinging, lyrical, and sizzling jazz. All proceeds benefit FlynnArts’ Jazz Combo program, providing scholarships and support for talented students in grades 5-12 who wish to pursue jazz studies. Pine Street Jazz trombonist George Voland serves as faculty for FlynnArts’ jazz program, along with skilled artist-educators Tom Cleary and Shane Hardiman.
