"Moving Roots: A Gathering of Vermont Dancers"
Featuring dancers Laurel Dugan Tentido (Trisha Brown Company), Annemarie Waltz (Juilliard School of Dance), Chatch Pregger (Houston & Boston ballets), and Vermont dancers Sarah King, Emily Stebbins, Genevieve Pellman, and Claire Vintinner - Friday, August 22, 2008 at 8 pm
- $18 adults, $14 students

Somewhere on a distant stage, a dancer is taking a bow. Somewhere
in Vermont, a child is learning to plié. Many Vermonters who began
their classical dance training in the state have gone on to professional
dance careers, while others have remained dedicated to studying
the art form here. This special evening gathers together thrilling
professional dancers from Vermont who are now working, or have
worked with, such companies as Trisha Brown, the Houston Ballet,
and Les Grands Ballet Canadiens. This elegant program features
original works of classical and contemporary ballet, modern, and
African jazz-inspired dance and explores how classical training gives
dancers the foundation to develop beauty of movement and line in
any dance form—celebrating the varied artistry of these Vermonters’
talent, devotion, and discipline. Dancers will include Laurel Dugan
Tentido (Trisha Brown Company), Annemarie Waltz (Juilliard School
of Dance), Chatch Pregger (Houston and Boston ballets), and several
wonderful artists dancing in Vermont: Sarah King, Emily Stebbins,
Genevieve Pellman, and Claire Vintinner. The program is coordinated
by Vermont ballet teacher and choreographer Shelley Ismail, with
support from Sharry Underwood.
