Young, spiky, hot... Universes is the hip Bronx-based ensemble that pioneered the hip-hop theater movement—fusing poetry, theater, jazz, hip-hop, social issues, down-home blues, and Spanish boleros to create provocative, entertaining theater. This "best of" performance showcases the ensemble's special brand of fusion theater, tracking the evolution of its communal poetic language from childhood rhymes to community rituals. Universes also previews pieces from Ameriville, scrutinizing post-Hurricane Katrina America, giving voice to people in the literal search for a home.
