Based on the classic novel by William Golding, this chilling
and ever-relevant play chronicles the striking social shift in
a group of schoolboys stranded by a plane crash on a deserted
island. As the trappings of civilization fall away, their cooperative
survival efforts gradually deteriorate into savage animal instinct.
Set on the brutal playing field of adolescent competition,
this drama of lost childhood from the National Players raises
important questions about power, democracy, and the good
and evil in human nature.
Links to literature, allegory, democracy,
and theater.
