As the community artist-in-residence throughout the 2019-20 season, Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) is a renowned violinist/composer whose genre-bending music is attuned to the immigrant experience and the impact it has on an artists and communities. “As a Haitian-American composer,” DBR says, “my bloodlines are divided and my ancestry remains gripped in revolution, protest, and uncertainty, as Haiti and the United States of America both represent historic victories against tyranny, while still struggling to find equity, hope, and change.” In a matinee mashup of words and music, DBR attempts to reconcile the deep divisions of country and community as both a father and an artist.
