While balancing both process and product, students will enjoy the thrill of performance at our final showcase while developing fundamental acting skills through character development, improvisation and scene study. Placement sessions for grades 2-8 are September 5 from 5:00-6:30. There is no preparation for necessary for the placement sessions, they are fun and low-stress, filled with theater games and improv! Note that students may be placed as follows: grade 2 in Sprouts or Juniors; grades 3-4 in Juniors only; grades 5-6 in Juniors or All-Stars; and grades 7-8 in All-Stars only. Performance date is November 28th in FlynnSpace.

FlynnArts Faculty

EMILY BENWAY (Sprouts & Juniors) is a new teaching artist this year at the Flynn. She graduated from Saint Michael's College in 2008 with majors in Theater and Psychology. During her time in undergrad, she spent two summers working as an intern with Saint Michael's Playhouse - first as an administrative intern and then as a technical theater intern. After graduating, Emily went on to complete some graduate work towards a Master's in Theater Education. Emily has been working with children of all ages for the part 9 years with the bulk of her experience working in Early Childhood Education. She currently works as an Early Care Advocate for Champlain Valley Head Start based in the Burlington area. Recently, Emily has acted in shows with Vermont Stage Company and Essex Community Players. Her favorite jobs in theater are teaching and directing. She is excited to pass along her love of theater to more children.

MARK STEIN (All-Stars) is a lifelong educator, performer, and visual artist. His life's work and passion are focused on bringing the arts to a broad spectrum of children with diverse vulnerabilities, needs, abilities, and opportunities.
