Performance opportunity on December 18th in the FlynnSpace. Free and open to the public.

  • Limit: 10

Begin by selecting a date and time:

Play in a small combo under the tutelage of a working professional. Students develop individual styles while learning an essential repertoire. Development is enriched by public performances in FlynnSpace and at the Discover Jazz Festival. Audition for all new members: September 4 starting at 6:00pm. Email the FlynnArts Manager or call 802-652-4537 for a timeslot.

For the audition, bring a piece that demonstrates your ability to play single note lines and/or chord progressions, as well as improvisation skill and, sight reading. Students are placed in the four Flynn jazz combos based on the following criteria: a) demonstrating a basic level of instrumental competency; b) age range; c) schedule availability, and; d) instrumentation needs of each group (each combo needs to have a balance of rhythm section and single line instruments). Please note that due to the small size of the group and instrumentation needs we may be unable to place all new members.

Vocalists: Like all other musicians, vocalists are encouraged to audition and may or may not be placed, based on the instrumental makeup of each group and at the discretion of the directors. We can not guarantee ability to take on vocalists.

  • Thumbs Up Icon This class is especially welcoming to first-timers!
