Travel back to 1925, in Barre, Vermont where about one-quarter of the population are Italian immigrants working in the Barre granite quarries. Imagine you’re one of these Italian immigrants trying to make a better life for yourself or you’re a native Vermonter whose home town suddenly looks different. If you’re an Italian immigrant or a native Vermonter what will you do? What happens when the new community you’ve moved to, or your long-time home is severely damaged by the Flood of 1927? In this week of improvisation in and around the buildings of Shelburne Museum, we use simple costumes to develop fictional characters who respond to the challenges of the time and learn to live together. Family and friends are invited to see highlights from the week’s adventures on Friday afternoon.
