FEB: Action Filmmaking: Green Screen & Special Effects w/RETN

Storyboard, shoot, and edit your own original short films! Over the course of this class, students will learn the basics of screenwriting, cinematography, and post-production while developing their understanding of good storytelling and collaboration. Students will develop their skills in camera work, digital editing, and audio engineering while using industry-standard film equipment and software. Other culminating projects include completed scripts, storyboards, film scores, and visual design concepts for original short films.

FlynnArts Faculty

JAMIE WATKINS is a director and teaching artist based in Brooklyn, NY and Burlington, VT. His work has been produced by multiple NYC performing arts organizations including HERE, Dixon Place, the Tank NYC, The Brick, Fresh Ground Pepper, Emerging Artists Theater, Epic Theatre Ensemble, FoxWolf Productions, and Opera House Arts in Stonington, Maine. He is the co-artistic director of Current Harbor, a graduate of Vassar College and LAMDA, and a recipient of the Kazan Prize for Distinction in the Dramatic Arts, as well as the Robert Moss Directing Fellowship at Playwrights Horizons. As a teaching artist, he has taught acting, physical comedy, and theater to students of all ages in after-school and in-school residency programs throughout the NYC public school system, as well as with the National Student Leadership Conference on Theater, and with Opera House Arts. ROSS RANSOM is the Education Coordinator for RETN at the Media Factory. He first started producing video while in school in New York. Ross' passion for teaching community media was solidified during a senior-year internship with RETN. Ross strives to help the community tell their stories by making it simple and fun to learn videomaking.
